Websites

Over the last 3 years, we’ve built tons of websites for musicians, artists, small businesses and even university initiatives. We approach every website from a marketing and design perspective (after all Stephen has a degree in graphic design and has years of web development experience). Since we don’t approach your website from a scientific, analytical perspective we are uniquely qualified to create a top notch website that strikes the right balance between form and function. We strive to always create beautiful, accessible and semantic websites. This helps your website on many levels: it loads faster, is accessible from any device and web browser and is better understood by search engines.

Print

We’ve designed everything from business cards to billboards. This includes brochures, direct mail pieces and even full-fledged capital campaigns. Have a band? We can design your CD packaging, posters (and website of course). Small business? We can create beautiful business cards, postcards and brochures that make your business shine. If it needs designed, we can probably do it. With a many years of running a small business (Michael), a degree in graphic design (Stephen) and field experience at a large magazine publisher (Stephen), we are uniquely qualified to take you and your project to the next level.

Logos

A logo is your business' identity. It becomes the symbol by which people recognize your business. This is why it is so important to have a logo that strikes the right chord and represents what your business is all about. For your logo to succeed it’s important to be consistent. This is achieved by integrating your logo through your company at every point of public contact. We’ll create a consistent design, color palette and style guide that will extend across your entire brand touchpoints: from your business card to your website and everything in between. We’ve successfully crafted logos for musicians, web-based businesses and even a bridal shop! Your logo is your first impression, and as it’s been said, there’s never a second chance to make a first impression. Let us help you make the perfect first impression - a beautiful logo.

Contact us today to get started on your next website, print campaign or logo project. We look forward to working with you!

who we are

Steve Emlund

Steve Emlund
owner & designer

My mantra is to create simple yet effective design that solves my clients’ challenges. My background stems from a degree in visual communications and field experience that includes editorial design and website development and design.

Before graduating college, I opened Creative Improv. You can also find me as the web developer at a graduate medical university.

I flex my creative muscle beyond web & graphic design by creating motion graphics for ad campaigns. Even outside of work I enjoy sharpening my creative skill set. Music continues to inspire me, and I spend free time jamming out on the saxophone or guitar and going to concerts.

Michael Goldsmith

Michael Goldsmith
creative director

Michael is the jack of many trades but the master of none. Well, he thought he mastered one once, but he didn’t pass the Chutes and Ladders proficiency exam. Michael spends a lot of time creating—from jazz music to graphic design, creativity is an integral part of his life.

Michael has been a professional jazz musician for over 15 years as well as his current position as an instructor of music at Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Missouri. His love of creativity and technology eventually took him into the design and development field. Michael is an accomplished creative director and has over 10 years of video editing experience. He also likes to make Stephen spew Mountain Dew out his nose on occasion.
